Fun Club Study Buddies Green Week On Earth Day all students take part in day-long educational stations where they learn how to recycle, reuse, and reduce. The main idea is that kids can make a difference! Every day is really Earth Day at Big T. Everyday, students actively reduce lunchroom waste by recycling plastic and feeding lunch scraps of fruit and vegetables to the composting worms in our garden. All students learn about reducing lunchroom waste, and 5th grade students help others sort scraps and recyclables. We use metal silverware it to reduce waste of plastic sporks. Students also sort paper in their classrooms each day. Paper that’s been used on only one side is saved to use again in the copier. Papers that have already been used on both sides are thrown into the classroom recycling bin, and students help to take that bin to the school dumpster. We also recycle food containers and cardboard in the classroom recycling bins. Special Assemblies |
